I can remember the night before I came to Spain. I was sitting in the middle of my messy bedroom surrounded by all of my suitcases, crying. I was so excited for the new adventures ahead, but I was terribly sad to be leaving the people I loved back home.
Now, 15 weeks later, I have found myself in the exact same spot. Sitting in the middle of my messy bedroom surrounded by my suitcases, crying. I am so excited to go home, but I am extremely sad to be leaving the people I love here.
Between learning a new language, living with four little sisters, understanding a new culture, meeting new friends, and traveling Europe, this semester has definitely been a crazy adventure. God has been so faithful through the whole experience, and I cannot even express how blessed I have been here. I have been stretched and challenged. I have learned and grown. I have made amazing friends and become part of another family. I have experienced so much in such a short amount of time, and it is hard to believe that this chapter of my life is coming to an end.
Some people say this semester is the adventure of a lifetime. And while I agree that it is one of the best opportunities I have ever had, I don't think it will be my biggest adventure. I think no matter where we find ourselves in life, we can choose to live life with joy and to make it an adventure. I am so happy with the many adventures I have had here, but I am so looking forward to the many new ones I have ahead of me. The next big ones include...graduating college, getting married, moving out of my house, moving to Edgerton, and teaching Spanish at Southwest Christian. Yea, I think that will be enough to keep me on my toes for the next few months. :)
It's hard to say good-bye to the friends, family, city, school, professors, and language that I love here. It's hard to say good-bye to a place that has become a new sort of home. But, as much as I love Spain, my favorite place to be is in my fiance's arms. I think it's about time I get back to where I belong.
As we say in Spain-it's not adios, it's hasta luego...
Sending you all my love from Spain for the last time,
jana
